Journalism Job Openings: The March List

Before you look at all the jobs I’ve added to this March list, here are a few things that could help you find a “new happy place”:

  1. Make sure you update your LinkedIn. Many managers are going to LinkedIn to find their next employee. List the jobs you have done, not just where you worked.
  2. Contact all your contacts in the news business and tell them you are looking for a job. How can I put together this list of jobs? I contacted my extensive network, and they reached out to their network.
  3. Attend local conferences and not only in journalism. There could be a job contact in the crowd or on a panel. There are plenty of free Zoom panels that you can take part in. Put yourself out there.
  4. Do not beat yourself up if you don’t find a new job immediately. Take a class, find a side hustle, and do something for you. Now you have the time.

I know it can be depressing, but push through. I speak from experience as someone who has been laid off and fired and has seen a job disappear.

My job list is part of my #CallingAllJournalists Initiative. Remember that hashtag because I use it to list new jobs I share on social media. Thanks again to all of you who contribute to my list.

If you are reading this right now, I want you to find a job you are not interested in and share it with me so I can add it to this list. Find me via LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. I update this list at least once a month. Also, subscribe if you want that update. Check back. And check my February list because there are still openings from that list.

JOBS! JOBS! and more JOBS!

Also, if you have the experience and know-how, think of starting your nonprofit or newsletter, especially if you want to move closer to family where a news desert exists.

Please let me know if you get a job from one of my posts. Good luck!

Until next time,

Journalism Job Openings: The February List

You may be looking for a job if you’re reading this newsletter/blog. Maybe you lost your job recently because your newsroom closed down or there was a layoff. I’ve been there. And I’m here to say that you will survive this and come out stronger and better.

Now is the time to turn to your family, friends, fellow journalists, sources for moral support, a pep talk, or even a chat over Zoom. But give yourself time to process all this, and don’t beat yourself up. Losing a job hurts, but you will find another one.

This long list of jobs only happened because I am fortunate to have a huge network of journalists who also have their network of journalists. So when I put a call out for job information, everyone helps everyone. That’s also why I knew my #CallingAllJournalists Initiative I started last year would succeed. The job list is part of that initiative.

As you read this list of jobs, read it with an open mind. Maybe it’s time to pick up, move, and find your new “happy place.” Maybe it’s time to learn a new platform. I went from TV news to print and digital. You can do it!

Also, FREE training opportunities are at the bottom of the list. Now is also the time to evolve and learn something new to make you a stronger and better journalist. I took community college classes between job searches.

I update this list at least once a month. Subscribe to this blog/newsletter.
Everything is FREE. Also, follow me on my social media platforms because sometimes I will get jobs and opportunities and turn around immediately and post them. LinkedIn, TwitterX, and Facebook.

Please SHARE this list.

Journalism Job Openings: The January List

Happy 2024! Let’s start this year by focusing on pushing forward in this profession that faces more challenges. Yes, we saw many jobs disappear in 2023, but do we ever roll over and die as journalists? No.

I started the #CallingAllJournalists Initiative last year because I am about creating opportunities. And with my vast network of journalists, creating a monthly job list under this Initiative was a no-brainer. Journalists are willing to help other journalists.

If you are reading this blog/newsletter looking for a job, could you pay it forward? Find a job you are not interested in, and let me know about the opening via social media.

And for those comfortable in a job right now, always be prepared for the unexpected. I learned early in my career to be ready for the job to go away, and that’s why I’m still standing today.

Just a reminder: I update this job list once a month. Check back. Also, look at the list I published in December. Some of the jobs on that list could still be available. Good luck!
